Tournaments

Ever considered competing with the best players in the world?

Anyone wishing to organise a tournament can advertise this here.

Although all major tournaments are covered here, there may be some minor tournaments which we do not know about. For this ends, anyone organising a "Stratego" tournament can advertise their event here.

Here at (UK-Stratego.com) we aim to publicise all "Stratego" events, no matter how big or small.

You may contact us through our forum. Any messages of interest will then be added to the site in due course.

Real life tournaments :

Real life tournaments are played on the board game and usually involve the use of chess clocks.

Real life tournaments are usually organised in association with the "International Stratego Federation" for classic "Stratego" games. The (I.S.F.) are the organisation who run the official world rankings and officiate at tournaments throughout the world. Any organisation wishing to run a real life "Stratego" tournament, can get the results of the tournament entered into the world rankings if they follow the I.S.F. rules and guidelines.

The other organisation who help to run real life tournaments are the "International Ultimate Lightning Association". The (I.U.L.A.) helps to organise and run "Ultimate Lightning Stratego" events. "Ultimate Lightning Stratego" is a hybrid form of the original game and although very similar, it is not the same game as "Classic Stratego".

Most big tournaments are played in "Real life" tournaments, including the World Championships of both Classic and Barrage. There is even a Stratego event in the annual Mind Sports Olympics.

Online tournaments :

Online tournaments have become ever more popular, as more and more players enjoy the benefits of being able to compete against the best players in the world via online gaming.

Real life tournaments are the best way to hold "Stratego" tournaments......... but unfortunately not everyone can afford to travel half way across the world to compete. For this reason Online Tournaments play a very good role in allowing everyone the chance to compete together.

Online tournaments are actually the purest form of "Stratego" as the strategy part of the game is at it's most strongest. The real life games involve reading an opponents body language, as to decide if the opponent is bluffing or actually making a strong move. In the online games we cannot see the opponent and thus this makes the actual strategy within the game much stronger.

I know of several players who have good body language skills and these are the players who do very well at real life games.........this is very evident when we see them playing relatively poorly online, when the body language skills are taken away from the game.......and a more strategic outlook is required.
